Our mechanic said it wasn't that big of a deal to set up, sure it takes longer, but no worse than doing a TT bike. The directions provided by Trek are super thorough. We get a bunch of videos internally (they should probably post them on youtube) that are helpful as well. I gotta say, it looks very cool in person, better slam the stem though. Might get one next year. |

Ain't gonna be any right lever-front brake routing either.

It's a cleaner look and it comes with some complications to get there but that's the price for progress. Those photos are very un-racebike like with ridiculously short stems which would be a real problem if Trek maxed out the virtual stem length at 120mm.
All because Trek Composite would increase the production costs for reasons of structural integrity which Trek Accounting complained as detrimental to margin while Trek Legal projected damage liabilities from broken longer length stems. Which Trek Management signed off on because there's no big difference between 120mm and 130mm - what's a few millimeters matter? I couldn't care less about proprietary parts, there will never be a big-box-bike in my cycling lifetime. No interest. But it does keep a Trek customer captive inside the ecosystem Trek made for themselves and their dealers. And if you are a customer that likes Treks, why would you object to the solidarity? |

Ditto all the above.
This seems to me for the rarified elite...with either deep pockets or team wrenches. It's cool and modern, not for me, and I doubt that I'll ever see one in the wild. But I live in a smaller market.

This is the last thing I'd want, and I'll readily admit I'm not their target. I'm guessing all the Trek groupies are salivating over this.
Yes, it's a nice exercise to see what can be done, but with all the proprietary parts, not really practical for me. |

Assume some manufacturer (e.g., 3T, Deda, or Ritchey) did this and it was compatible with all or most frames. Would you be interested? Because I think we can expect something close from those manufacturers.

Been done once or twice already.

Not with completely internal routing of cables through stem and into frame.

Fixed it for you.
P.S. It's a good thing that metal tip on the protrusion on the computer mount isn't anodized pink. Last edited by happycampyer; 10-11-2015 at 10:52 AM. |

hideous. I'd prefer a more sleek integrated stem bar combo.
