If you look closely at his shoes, he's wearing his loafers! Haha! He forgot his riding shoes!

Last ride of the year and I needed 12 miles to hit 3000 for the year (I started in March). I was afraid it wasn't going to happen when my wife and baby came down with the flu, but she let me sneak out for a quick 20 miles today.

Ride by this place on 99% of my rides and have never taken a picture.

Little country store that has been there since the mid 1800's and is now a restaurant.

Iceman

I did the Iceman's challenge gravel ride from China Spring, Texas, on December 3. Here are some photos. Unfortunately, my phone died halfway into it so I couldn't get as many photos as I would have liked. There's more details about the ride on my blog.

Yesterday's mudfest on Canyon/West Ridge Trail above Oakland. That's a Nate 3.8 buried under there.

Mick,

Excellent write up in your blog. I had no idea about this event. Looked like a lot of fun.

Icy roads and 20mph wind today so I got some trail riding in today. Good sections of ice and snow today on the trails... but was a blast

Escaping sick wife and toddler post-holidays

Managed to get away from sick wife and toddler for a much-needed ride. Rode from Sierra Madre to La Canada to meet up with a friend for lunch, straddling the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains through Pasadena and Altadena. Then came back to Arcadia and headed up to Chantry Flats for a quick climb:

About 30 miles to the ocean in the distance:

Heading further in and up:

It ain't LA without some graffiti + nature:

Destination:

Decided to climb the paved fire road up to one of my favorite hiking trails out of this area:

Side note, that's a pretty serious hike to do without water at the top:

Then headed back to sick wife and toddler.

Edit: Still love the bike!
