Your first goal was a year out? No wonder you lost focus.

If there's not any intermediate steps, you're going to lose that focus. Surely there were some intermediate races you had planned and mapped out, if only to work through some of the race-day stuff you'd need to be ready for next April?

There's also nothing wrong with admitting that such goals aren't you for either. Everyone's different.
