DeRosa Black Label series - custom in any way you like
I have always coveted DeRosa bikes. None more Italian and steeped in cycling mojo than these bikes from the old country. All the Italian marques have made their peace with the realities of global comparative advantage and have outsourced their manufacturing to distant lands. A casualty of this has been the inability of getting custom geometry made into a bike as doing one-offs is not what contract manufacturing is about.
I haven't had DeRosas on the radar for a while 'cos I can't get 'em to fit. Just as I thought I was out, they pull me back in! DeRosa 2015 Black Label custom Custom in any of the 4 major bike materials! How bold is that! Made in Italy. And as much as I had swore never to fall down the N+'too many' rabbit hole again, I will look into this more closely and make room for a DeRosa. Gotta get one before they change their mind about building 'em custom anymore. Oh to revisit the cold sweats of getting through Italian business paperwork unaltered and unscathed! |

The steel bike they are showing is lugged. Even more interesting is it also has what looks like a traditional quill stem.

ha, this tells me that it's too rich for my blood - no price listed? must be unreasonably high

This is probably not a part of the black label program, but it was my favorite (road) bike of the show this year.

Good for them. Could be a trend soon. They have the power and resources to make high end.... high priced custom bikes. If people are willing to drop 2-4k on something like an indy fab. I'm sure there's a market for custom de rosa bikes. Especially given their history and heritage within the cycling scene. Bold move indeed.... But I hope it works out!

Steel is lugged. Dunno if it's just me, but the welds on the TI bikes appear a bit sloppy.

Had 5 DeRosa's, all lugged and steel. 2 Primatos, one Giro, a Nuovo Classico and Professional. All very, very nice. Should have kept the Giro, Neuron tubes, really nice frame. One if the 'big 4', Colnago, Pinarello, DeRosa, Merckx...

I like the idea. The steel bike looks great. Wonder what the cost of these will be roughly

I'm sure they will be $3500-$4500. I mean... A Colnago Master X light is roughly that price... No?

Oddly enough, that aluminum one stands out to me.

I sure do like the way the titanium and steel have level top tubes. Also like the presentation: minimum graphics, and the lack of graphics on components. Very purposeful – looking.
I have owned a Professional, a Neo Primato, and a Titanio, all of which were great riding bikes, so hope they're successful. |

So are they getting Legend to do the work with a DeRosa badge?
From what I recall, Legend does all four materials custom, in-house... |
