I have a titanium fidlock, not really sure why. Works okay, can still be squeezed albeit not with a huge force of water.

Don’t really see the point, except it tastes a lot better than the plastic fidlocks. So much plastic aftertaste after a year.

Do any plastic water bottles have this setup, and does anyone opt for this type of cap/valve with a squeezable bottle? Honestly curious. I presume the advantage the squeeze type bottle/cap is that you don't have to open close the top valve because it requires pressure to open the self-sealing valve, while with the free flowing valve you need to close after each drink (and open with your teeth?) or with every bump water will squirt out?

I've closed mine because I also close my plastic bottles. I'm not sure this is an issue. The water comes out when you pour and tilt the bottle. Unless it's very full and you are just starting out, I can't see it splashing out.
You wouldn't want to leave it "open" in a bag or laying down. Don't want to with a plastic one, either, but the leak will be real with a Bivo.

A full Ti bottle would probably penetrate the rear window of an F150.

As someone who predominantly rides in groups, this is my worry as well. Running over that would be terrifying.

I’d hate to have someone in front of me on a ride lose one. Plastic bottles are enough of a nuisance when they are dropped in front of you.

I don’t see the point. It’s one thing to keep a stainless or Ti insulated bottle on my desk at work — I have a couple Yeti tumblers in my office. But on my bike, I generally want something that’s I won’t feel awful about losing. I like the regular insulated Camelback bottles. But even they are expensive. They are dishwasher safe, so I can sanitize them and use them for a long time before discarding them.

Based on how noisy my bivo bottles are, I'd pass on any metal bottles. They are easy drink from.

The one benefit I can see is on really hot rides. Sometimes the drink mix i use tastes so putridly disgusting if it's really warm, almost unstomachable.

Also, a lot of times I take straight water in my bottles, and on hot days, the water does taste plasticy and gross out of a plastic bottle.

I use the insulated 24oz plastic camelback podium chill bottles for this reason. I fill them almost to the top with crushed ice, and then add hydration drink mix and water. The ice melts somewhat slowly and the fluid stays reasonably cool while it remains in my bottles I typically have to stop at a convenience store to refill after 2.5 hours or so.

If you need metal bottles to keep your fluid cold, you may not be drinking enough.
