Nice short video on Gent Wevelgem
I was riding in the lower mountains yesterday with 20-40 mph gusts. I ride with low profile rims and a non-aero bike. It was really nerve racking coming down the faster descents, and I weight 185lbs.
I have a lot of respect for the skills it took to ride at that level, speed-distance-tight peleton. Pro cyclists perform amazing feats and go way underrated compared to other professional. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/gall...evelgem-mayhem |

Thanks for the video link...around 3:20 into the video, watch one of the riders get blown into a ditch...unreal winds.

Do the riders not have the choice to ride a lower profile rim in those conditions? It seems like an unnecessary, extra danger.

Cool vid, gives a real feel for those conditions, very manly race that day. At this stage of my life, on a day like that ,you'll likely find me reading a book on a comfy chair rather than on a bike saddle challenging Mother Nature.
