Compass Snoqualmie Pass Tires: too tight?

I love my Compass tires. I have more tires from Compass than I care to count. Hell, I recently gave a friend a pair of tires since "friends don't let friends ride crappy tires".

I just bought a new pair of the 700x44mm tires. I believe that these are the new models.

Took off my old 700x44mm tire easily. Tried to mount the new one on a Pacenti SL 25. NO GO.

Wait what?

Yes, NO GO. I took out the tube, left the tire mounted over night...stretch they say.

Tried to add the tube in the morning, NO GO. The clearance is just too tight and using a tire lever is too risky with the tube in there.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I feel you. Had the same issue on the same rims.

No tire jack necessary (I broke mine).

1. Buy some tubeless tape and replace your rim strip with 2 layers.
2. Make sure when you hook the first side in you push the bead to the center.
3. Mount other side like normal and inflate. The bead will make a noticeable pop sound and your good!

Seriously!!!! Same experience with Recent Compass bon jon pass tires ....mounting tubeless on rims that my clement strada ush tubeless tires fall on and off, bare hands, no leather gloves, no levers required...tried to change out the night before a gravel riding trip, same result, an absolute NOGo mounting, waaaaay too tight!
Tried to reach out to Compass Bicycles but contacting them seems difficult beyond ordering product.
I don't think the tire manufacturer met the specifications on these tires, I don't care how great they are, if I can't remove them in the field they won't go on my ride.

Every time there is one of these threads. . .

Are you using 2 passes of tubeless rim tape?
Did you read and follow the instructions from Compass that were included with your tires?
Have you employed the Kool Stop Tire Jack or VAR tire lever?

If you answered "no" to any of those questions. . .

Similar issues with Snoqualmie's on a set of Enve rims setup tubeless. Quite a bit of effort to get them mounted. Finally got the one setup and holding air, but the second one won't seed properly so keep working on it...

When a tire won't "pop" over the edge of the shelf on a tubeless rim, I use Peter Weigle's trick: a little soapy water lubricates the bead and rim tape (tubeless, of course!), and the tire seats with ease.

There is so much variability among rims, and the tolerances with tubeless mounting are so much tighter... It's a challenge to make a tire that is easy to mount on a slightly-too-large rim, yet won't blow off a slightly-too-small one. We'll keep working on it, and we appreciate everybody understanding the issues.
