grand cru cantis
i was browsing the velo-orange site for the first time in a while and ran across these canti brakes. tho i'm firmly in the v-brake camp, i thought these look nice for anyone who hasn't seen them.

These have one big "***" that keeps me from trying them. There's a 13mm nut on the back that holds the pads. I dont carry a multi tool with a 13mm spanner. Besides that though, they look great and appear that they'd function quite well. I like the VO pad material too.

I have a pair of the wide version of these (identical except for the arms sit perpendicular to the fork blades) and they work really well. Took me a while to set them up in order to get the mechanical advantage I wanted, however, after that was done they stop very well and the stock pads are really nice.

I have them on the SS Minnow.
The front pads are Shimano which feel better going down the steep rough stuff. I think when you get the straddle cable just right, they stop just as well as any mini V out there. I wanted these for a good long time, but didn't want to pay VO's price for them. They were Rabobank's canti of choice for several years.
