I use Dynaudio speakers in my media room and think they are a good value. I use the Excite X14 bookshelf speakers as my rear surround speakers.

I am using bookshelf speakers for the first time in my main audio listening room - my home office. As mentioned earlier you still need proper stands and in my opinion you need a sub that is usually more expensive than the bookshelf speakers. I do have a great audio sound in this space. People who listen to this smaller system are very impressed with the sound.

If you don't go bookshelves, then you could repair your woofers with new surrounds and it is a do it yourself type of job. YouTube has lots of videos on repairing drivers.
These are great speakers

Simply Speakers has replacement surrounds for many driver models.
Lots of instruction videos for specific ones.

I had a pair of Altec A7 Voice-Of-The-Theater speakers as my home hifi when I was a freshman in college. They were pretty fukin awesome, even when driven by a lowly 25wpc Sony receiver.

Two years later I had an identical pair of those McIntosh tube amps...but by then the speakers had been downsized to AR3s.

Nowadays I mostly listen on headphones

Ahhh. Yeah, those college days.

Roommate and I had both scraped together enough funds to buy Advent speakers, so... somehow we wound up with stacked Advents driven by a Phase Linear 400 amp... in a dorm room.

Eh, what'd you say? Can't quite hear you...

I own all of the above, and can get you close.
I'm assuming that these are the 8-Ohm classic ('95-'97) variants and not the more modern versions called the Home or Domus. Those are less sought after.
Assuming further that the cosmetic condition is in line with the playing hours history, i.e. close to new...
Concertos - $750
Concertinos - $450
Add $50 to either of the above for the Piano Black finish
Solo/Piccolo - $250
Pair of stands - $250
Maybe a bit extra for the speakers if you include any upgraded binding post jumpers or a good quality set of bi-wire cables.

These do seem to change hands on ebay and on the 'gon.

Combined with enough in the way of amplification, this might be said to be the audio equivalent of an oversized-steel frameset bike with D-A or Record from the mid-late 90s. Satisfying, not harsh, and regarded favorably over time by enthusiasts. If contemporary stuff doesn't appeal to you, or you just don't want to learn a new lexicon...these are pleasers.

My COSTCO doesn't sell stereo speakers anymore. They sell soundbars and 5-way surround systems oriented toward TV systems.
