I've got bikes with Potenza, Athena and chorus 11, and two bikes with 6800,one short and one medium cage. Like saab, I've used campy for decades (as well as shimano) and I somewhat reluctantly say I'm now a shimano convert. The new shimano is so slick I don't see myself buying any more campy in the foreseeable future.

Centaur availability
Per my LBS, QBP has Centaur 11 speed but in black only. I wanted silver but looks like all Centaur is now only in black. Any updates on when silver may be available? It may not be worth it to wait.
I am trying to do the right thing and buy from a LBS. Alan |

Just to clarify some points regarding Shimano cranks, 9000/6800/5800 rings are not compatible with R9100/R8000 cranksets without some modification. I had to file a Wickwerks 9000 compatible ring to fit an R9100 crank. The 1:00 position spider arm where the ring needs to be filed. I wouldn't suggest this with a Hollowglide ring, but it's fine with a plate style ring such as the Wickwerks or a 6800 46 tooth ring. Note also that you can swap R9100 rings with R8000 rings, but the contours do not line up. So if you want to use an R8000 46 tooth on an R9100 crank for cross, I would just use standard chainring bolts since the shaped nuts used on the R8000 46/36 crank don't line up with the contours of an R9100 crank anyway. I personally don't care about how the stuff looks, but that's just me.
Also, Potenza cranks are still Power Torque + and not Ultra Torque. And by looking at the silver Centaur rear derailleur on the website, it looks to me that the knuckles are fiber reinforced thermoplastic like Potenza/Chorus/Record/Super Record. The mold parting lines are apparent in the pictures. Last edited by zank; 10-06-2017 at 05:53 AM. |

Of note, the Centaur and Potenza crank bearings are same as Record, so USB(not Cult)..so that's keen, both the quality and size(6mm width)..
