Campy Experts: 11-32 Potenza Cassette w/ 2015+ Derailleur/Shifters
Sorry if this has been asked already, but a quick search didn't turn it up.
I have a newer style Chorus 11s Group (2015+). Currently running 11-29 Chorus cassette. Could the RD support a 11-32 Potenza cassette and is the indexing/spacing the same as other newer style groups? Campagnolo is obviously saying max of 29t... Running semi-compact fwiw. Not sure I want to waste money experimenting and can usually find a definitive answer to such questions around these parts. Thank you! Last edited by maximus; 04-24-2017 at 06:32 PM. |

11-32 and a 36-52 (21 + 16 = 35 tooth difference) will require the Potenza Mid cage rear derailleur.

some people have got it to work... you would be better off with a mid cage derailleur though

You can swap cages if you want to keep the chorus derailure and not use the potenza.

Thanks for the replies. Thought I might be able to push beyond the recommended spec but sounds like a no go with the current derailleur.
Def an area that the S's have the edge... |

Just replace the Chorus cage with a Potenza cage, works perfectly. I've been running mine for a couple months now or so and zero problems. Shifting might even be better.

Works for me. No probs, but I'm using a compact crankset.

I'm running pre-2015 Chorus RD with 32 teeth Potenza cassette. Works just fine when you're in the small ring on the front, big ring on the back.

BTW: the interesting move will be to go bigger on the back using a Shimano cassette with Potenza RD :-)

Slightly OT but related: I'll find out later this week if a Shimano CX70 FD (bottom pull) works with Potenza shifters.
Update: It works. Last edited by jruhlen1980; 04-28-2017 at 02:29 PM. |
