Mixing Osmo/Skratch Labs hydration drinks

Does anyone else have an issue getting Osmo or Skratch hydration mixes to dissolve in water and not result in a grit filled water bottle? I find Osmo to be a good bit better than Skratch in this regard but even mixing below the recommended strength (2 scoops vs recommended 2.5 scoops per 21 oz bottle) I find that the last quarter of the bottle is very gritty, despite giving it a good shake several times as I get through it.

Anyone else notice this? Am I doing something wrong? Are there any other mixes out there that are as easy on the stomach as Osmo and dissolve better?

Cytomax isn't too bad but I don't think any of them mix all that well. Often I just buy Pedialyte (or more often the Walmart of Dollar Tree brand), and it's extremely easy on the gastro system.

Maybe try mixing with a little hot water, then add cold once it is all dissolved.

+1 to the warm water suggestion, albeit inconvenient, this is what I usually do when I know I am going to be riding the next day. Mix with warm water, then throw the bottles into the fridge.

Try Tailwind

Tailwind mixes very easy, is cheaper than the alternatives, and works well for me. Flavor is very light and easy on the stomach. They don't have a huge mkt budget but it works.

I was using the raspberry Skratch Labs and it left a little residue but that was because it had tiny pieces of raspberry in it that didn't dissolve. Currently I am using Skratch lemon-lime and have had no problem.

A little Paul Newman Lemonade.

And/or Cran-Mango.

Helps.

there are some additives that help powders dissolve better and stay in suspension in liquid, but Skratch and Osmo don't use them because they are artificial and theoretically don't offer a performance benefit once in the body (though they do in the bottle). Stacy Sims, the scientist who formulated both products, is a bit of a zealot when it comes to ingredients.

I just give my bottle a quick shake before drinking and that works fine.

In terms of Skratch, I find the Lemon/Lime both the easiest to drink and least gritty. The other flavors seem to take longer to fully dissolve.

Skratch lemon/lime dissolves completely if you give it a good shake or stir. And it tastes great, IMO.

I use the scratch pineapple in the warm months and apple cinnamon in the cooler months. A few shakes and it completely dissolves for me. The cinnamon leaves a bit of residue but I've had no problems with the pineapple flavor.
