Great pix. I was able to attend two of the Red Zingers in the late 70's before it changes title sponsors and became the Coors Classic. Can remember it like it was last year. I still think the downfall of the Coors was it's too rapid growth with stages to far from it's epicenter. It's not like Colorado didn't have the needed terrain. They got greedy, pure and simple. A damn shame.

Several years ago my awesome wife got me a three dvd, eight hour compilation of all the tv coverage of the Red Zinger and Coors Classics. It was put out by Velogear. Not sure if it's still available. It is always the first thing I put on every winter when I get out the trainer. I was fortunate enough to spend a good part of my summers in Boulder in the late 70's and 80's and seeing parts of stages that I watched live is a lot of fun.

Yep. The Hawaii stage of the Coors is when they seriously jumped the shark.
