No way.

(unless the NFL's investigation shows that LA was in charge of the Pats' "Ball Prep" procedures and that they were secretly substituting Spanish cowhides for the Horween leather Wilson uses)

"You may have heard that the NFL has written a lousy piece of legislation. Make sure the air pressure of the football meets certain pounds per square inch (PSI) standards two hours and fifteen minutes before kickoff, then hand the ball back to the teams, who are free to pop the balloon a bit. Unless, apparently, the Indianapolis Colts complain.

That’s like a kindergarten teacher taking morning attendance, tearing through the ABCs, and then signing off before snack-time. My work here’s done kids, take care of yourselves until lunch."

No, no, I didn't mean that at all. Me a gangster? I've got bike racer arms and a separated shoulder.

Just sayin'...

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-e...ce-pass-muster

At the end of the blog post:

Meanwhile, HeadSmart Labs in Pittsburgh conducted a study that indicated the pressure in the footballs used in the AFC Championship Game could have dropped 1.95 PSI from weather and field conditions alone.

HeadSmart said it tested 12 new footballs that were inflated to 12.5 PSI in a 75 degree room to imitate the indoor conditions where the referees would have tested the footballs 2 hours
and 15 minutes before kickoff. The footballs were then moved to a 50-degree environment
to simulate the temperatures that were experienced throughout the game and were dampened to replicate the rainy conditions.

“Out of the 12 footballs we tested, we found that on average, footballs dropped 1.8 PSI when being exposed to dropping temperatures and wet conditions,” the lab's report states.

Oh, God, we're bringing actual, independent experimental data into this?? How low have we sunk?

So Richard Sherman said he'd help me out with the page count. He's provided a nice comment regarding Kraft and Goodell.

The white-wash begins...

BTW, I do agree that conducting tests on real NFL footballs is a good idea.

Were Patriots footballs significantly under the legal pounds-per-square-inch threshold, or were they just slightly under?

According to Mike Florio over at Pro Football Talk, the ball intercepted by Indy linebacker D'Qwell Jackson in the second quarter of the AFC Championship Game was later measured at 10.5 PSI, which is 2.0 PSI under the legal minimum. However, a source told Florio, 10 other footballs -- which were reportedly also about 2.0 PSI under the legal range -- may have actually been closer to 11.5 PSI.

The new information contradicts the report from ESPN earlier this week that said 11 of 12 Patriots footballs measured in at about 2.0 PSI below the 12.5 PSI legal minimum. PFT's report says that perhaps just one football fell in that range.

The NFL is the Keystone Cops.

Obviously we don't have any real data, but that's never prevented us from speculating. Besides, that's way more fun than talking about how it's too cold and snowy/icy to ride.

Those don't count for the total page count. (But this one will)

Have the Seahawks made any announcements as to whether they prefer hard, soft, or blue balls?
