5th picture down- where did you find that?
I have been in that actual workshop- it's in Padua- Vetta Cycles (no connection with the makers of Vetta cycle computers etc, as far as I know). Vetta is (I hope they are still around) a small family owned frame builder, and the person in the photo is Giovanni Antonio, I believe the second generation of Antonio framebuilders. One (or possibly more) of Antonio's sons also worked in the business. I had a MAX tubed Vetta frame which had a sticker on the top tube which said something like "3 generazione telastai". Forgive my spelling but I understand that it means 3 generations of framebuilders. When I was in the Veneto in 2001 - having done some riding on my Vetta frame, including the Passo de Rolle in the Dolomites- I poked around the backstreets of Padua until I found the Vetta workshop and, despite the fact that it was siesta time, and he spoke English about as well as I spoke Italian (ie not at all well) Mr Antonio graciously gave me a tour of his workshop. I recall that he was working on inserting some carbon tubes into an aluminium frame and there were finished frames with the names of local racers on the tags awaiting paint. It was very cool and something I will always remember. The MAX frame eventually cracked and is sitting in forum member rustychisel's bike room to this very day, until we work out what to do with it. Thanks! |

Beauty truly is; solely in the eye of the beholder, I was WAY more interested in everything else in that picture of the Pinarello.
Like all those cable housing color choices, or the gold cassette, or anything elseā¦ Last edited by dustyrider; 10-22-2022 at 08:12 PM. |

Indeed it is cracked through the chainstay, to be repaired if I ever have any money, as that frame is a thing of beauty indeed. With a modern groupset and a nice light sets of wheels it will be a wonderful bike, once again.
