I agree that Campy and Shimano hubs are hard to beat, but I don't happen to own either right now.

Current favs are:

DT 240: have something like 5 sets of wheels with them - never serviced any of them and they are super versatile with easy parts swaps

Tune: Super light, sound good, haven't had any issues

For MTB - Industry9

white industries

good-
1. durable and easy and inexpensive to switch freehubs
2. they last a long time
3. titanium freehubs are light and don't get super duper cog bite
4. lots of hole counts
5. USA made
6. cheap
7. big durable inexpensive available bearings

bad-
1. sort of adjustable bearings
2. I guess some people really need super fast million point engagement
3. ugly graphics (on the ano version, they look fine in polish IMHO)
4. weight weenies will be sad

This.

Just bought my first set of Ultegra hubs and I am sorry I cheaped out. Heavy, heavy, heavy and the bearings are not smooth as silk like the dura ace. Good but not great hubs (untergra).

I would imagine it's probably the same between Record and all other levels of campy.. but I don't do campy

My biggest annoyance is Campagnolo only makes hubs in a 32 hole drilling.

Depends. If the build is 32 and Campag, hard to beat Record. Track/fixie/freewheel, Phil. Great basic hubs, shimano 5800/6800. Hi Zoot, WI, DT350/240, DA9000 or new Wheels hubs.

Not sure what ya want for $100 hubSET with QRs. BTW, if the hubs aren't 'smooth, adjust them dear lizza, adjust them. 9000 are nice but big $ these days. A ti FH body can't be that expensive.

Heavy...how many power-bars heavier are 6800 than 9000? ...on your 90,000 gram bike and rider 'package'....minutiae IMHO.

Alchemy hubs. They are available again. They were always my favorite premium hubset.

White Industries save a bit of money off the Alchemy and are still premium.

For weight weenie hubs I started using Carbon-Ti and like how they build up.

Dura ace cheaper than the other hubs in the survey

Hard to adjust out modest bearing and races. Maybe they will get better like fine whine

the weight difference is 150 grams.

I have white industries T-11 on the road bike. Super fast rolling, great titanium freehub. Made in USA goodness!

DT Swiss 240s with ratchet upgrade is hard to beat for engagement.

CK hubs are good, even better engagement than the DT, haven't ridden them yet but they're getting laced tonight! Service is easy IF you have the crazy expensive tool.

Road or Mtb? DT Swiss are the easiest to maintain and swap into other configurations- but Chris King has my biz-in 22 years of mtb riding on them I've had 2 sets - only. Not sure I could r45 tho...

I guess ya gotta look at MSRP for apples to apples comparison but 9000 hubs are a little over $500..WI are about $60 or so cheaper and DT350, about $200 cheaper. Not trying to get into another pissing contest but yes, 9000 are really nice hubs. TI FH body, lotsa drillings but I have built dozens of 6800/5800 based wheelsets(just finished a 6800/DT460 wheelset...very smooth hubs) and they are nice hubs..smooth, 150 grams in the bike/rider package means almost nada. IMHO.

DT 350 on every wheelset in the house, except for a couple of powertap rears.

So, yeah, they are my favorite.
