I like the spray on stuff. Anything over 30-35 spf. Copper tone sport I think. Still smells like suntan lotion, but not that obnoxious. I keep a can by the back door of the garage and can spray just before I roll out. As a bonus, most big box stores have it in a three pack pretty cheap.

semi related advice:

Post burn treatment, 100% Aloe Gel, use it burned areas.

YMMV, but it works for me if I ever get burned by not using enough sunscreen.

Consumer Reports 2017 top five
La Roche-Posay, Anthelios 60 Melt-in Sunscreen Milk, $36
Equate, Sport Lotion SPF 50, $5
Pure, Sun Defense Disney Frozen Lotion SPF 50, $6
Coppertone, WaterBabies Lotion SPF 50, $12
Equate, Ultra Protection Lotion SPF 50, $8

"Looking for a sunscreen you can spray? Trader Joe's Spray SPF 50+ received an excellent rating, along with Banana Boat SunComfort Clear UltraMist Spray and Equate Sport Continuous Spray SPF 30."

All the sunscreen on this top five list have active ingredients like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, and octinoxate—or some combination of those chemicals. Avobenzone degrades in the sun, resulting in the release of free radicals that may actually increase the risk for cancer.

What I look for in an ingredient panel are mineral active ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, or both. Been using Banana Boat Kids Lotion. Works great however its hard to get off. I use a soapy washrag in the shower to remove it.

My calves and lower legs are a little red after riding yesterday. It still was cold enough to need knee and arm warmers. At least there is some sun.

Sunscreen

My dermatologist recommends Nutragena. Is not oily/slick, no noticeable fragrance and comes in a range of SPF's. I use it on my face and neck I use sunsleeves and solar knee covers and a little sunscreen on the lower leg

I'm a bit puzzled by this one. Apparently the active ingredient in Anthelios was something that goes by the name of Mexoryl, which is considered the one of the best UVA blockers. And for some reason, this ingredient was not approved for use in the US, but is widely available in other countries, where it is considered quite safe. Now the EWG site is showing the Anthelios products containing Mexoryl as 'old product', nevertheless, the Anthelios products are crazy expensive. So if you travel, you can pick up normally priced sunscreens containing Mexoryl : Ombrelle in Canada, or Garnier Ambre Solaire, which I picked up in Germany last year (for less than 5 euros). Both are actually L'Oreal products.

yeah for reasons I don't recall, maybe just bureaucracy, the FDA hasn't approved any new sunscreens in over 10 years, so we're way behind in sunscreen technology

I've been using Banana Boat SPF 50 with good results. Not too greasy. Stays on even with all my flooding sweat in 90+ temps. And it's unscented. It's not a spray , but uses a pump. You apply with your fingers, so it goes where you want it and not where you don't.

Start here; most detailed, unbiased reviews available IMO:

http://www.ewg.org/sunscreen/

Based on these, we've had very good results with this:

I use SKIN Golf Sunscreen, works well. I believe it is a "blocker" type. Just used it today on the very first really warm and sunny day in Portland.
