Three days of riding here out of Front Royal with the Baron. We had some precip the past two days but no way that is interfering with our fun! Smooth pavement, great scenery, wicked good rollers, little traffic, and plenty of up-and-down. My first time with rim brakes and carbon rims and water, reminds me of my Peugeot UO8 with steel Rigida rims At least no worry about excessive heat during braking! The Supersix is a fine tool for the job. Tomorrow will be the Bingham on a mixed surface ride, solo, as Mike heads back up to NJ. He's a terrific host/guide, and capable of keeping to my pace. This is truly a cyclist's paradise.
Apologies for Mike being rotated 90 degrees, he really is on the up-and-up!

Glad to hear you got out despite the weather! I’ll be out that way tomorrow for the Shenaduro 6-hour mountain bike race (Bentonville, at the canoe rental place).

Today’s ride was mixed pavement and gravel, and I stayed dry!

That area is stunning, but an hour + away from me. Closer in is Middleburg. Closer than that is The Plains. Lots and lots of great riding from either place too.
You can ride from The Plains to the bottom of Mt Weather and not hit much tarmac. Speaking of Mt Weather, there's a gravel road up the back side of the mountain that I've always wanted to ride. It's farging steep tho so it's not as pressing as it was before I drove down it in my truck M |

I think you would regret that choice.

As for Mt Weather, paved 601 is enough of a challenge for me |

Looking at RWGPS - is that really about 450 ft per mile of up? Yikes!

Beautiful area to ride! When a group of used to go to Pisgah for mountain biking, leaving Friday evening from NYC usually we would stop overnight and ride Wolf Gap trail down and ride the gravel roads back to the trailhead to shake the legs out.
