Leader 736R. Not only my first “real” road bike but also the first frameset I built up.

'79 - Univega Gran Premio - Suntour Superbe Pro - is that a real race bike?
'81 - Bruce Gordon with Campy Super Record - more real |

This guy. Dave Hinde. Columbus Neuron. Loved that frame. It was heckin' fast. The front end was so tight. Rode like a track bike with gears. 53/39 12-26 10sp Force. I never understood why climbing was so much work.... I could get away with it when I was 19. Not so much now, hence 50/34 12-32 Last edited by jkbrwn; 10-09-2020 at 01:16 PM. |

Basso!
Mine was this Basso Gap. I think it was a 1998 or so - I picked it up shortly thereafter.
It wasn't a weight weenie frame, but the ride was smooth, stiff where you want it to be, and it tracked beautifully. It also had a handsome mix of fillet brazing and lugs. I didn't know my fit preferences when I first picked it up. In an effort to get some standover, I ended up with a top tube that was too short. We still spent a good long tenure together before it left to another happy home. |

Centurion Dave Scott Ironman with the fade paint job and what looked like a lightning storm on the fork. Full 600 group. Tange #1 tubing. I always have my eye open for something that light and quick.

2008 Trek 1.5. Pretty entry level, but rode it for over 10 years, while making some very minor upgrades. Upgraded to a 2021 Emonda SL 6 this year.

It is coming up the queue! I need to finish up some home projects first, but the entire build is now here.

90's trek 1400 with 7 speed 105. Rode it in high school and college. Someone stole it my junior year and my dad and I recovered it. Still have the frame ~10 years later.

After my Schwinn Varsity was stolen went out and blew insurance $$$ and savings on a beautiful French Liberia, although really wanted the Gitane but that was beyond my price point.
That '73 vintage Liberia with Mafac brakes and Simplex drivetrain helped me win my first podium finish in my first ever bike race in Colorado in summer of '74 |
