Also buybacks for 19,000 3.0 TDIs. 60,000 to get a fix.

Details are sparse. This article doesn't say there's a buyback, another one I saw did.

for those who have completed the buyback process, what was the time from keys turned in to when the money showed up in your account (EFT option)? I know VW says within 3 business days but I got an email from VW saying that within 3 biz days I will get an email from JP Morgan Chase with a link which will request my account information. after that the process will be completed, funds transferred.

Buyback is 12/27 at 9am and I need the $ to complete a deal for a new vehicle by 12/31.

I did read the link to a previous article of interest about longer wait times.

http://jalopnik.com/owners-are-right...847.1453824634

Looks like the broader average times are longer than the feedback from people here and on the VW forums I've read. I wonder why that's the case. From the forums it seamed like my wait time was unusually long in comparison. Looks like it's more widespread than I thought.

Gotta wonder why people opt for the somewhat complicated, 2 step, 2-3 day, electronic check option(from this old guy who still writes checks)..

I should mention, I'm not time critical to get the $. Just hand it over to my financial guy...

I think i did because my credit union will put a hold on that check for a number days. Funds under $5K will be available 2 biz days later, amounts over $5K i think its 5 days or something like that. unless its a Bank Check, US Treasury etc. anyone know what type of check?

I'm going EFT because the nearest place I can deposit a paper check is 2 hrs away, and the mobile limit is $10k.

About 36 hours total for me from close of buyback appointment to funds in my account and available. I wrote a check during my buyback for my Alltrack and the dealer had a form where I gave them the date they should cash it. I drove my new car off the lot regardless.

I appreciate the link. I was, for several months, keeping on top of the latest news. But I've since stopped, because it all annoys me so much. Anyway, thanks.

This guy, and anyone else who strips their car (to that extent) before turning it in, is being a friggin' putz. The majority of environmental harm in the full life cycle of a car comes from manufacture and disposal. VW either has to put MORE environment-wrecking resources into a stripped car to build it back up, or they may figure the math doesn't work and they'll scrap it. What a waste...this has been bad enough as-is. I'd never side with VW in any of this, but I hope they legally find a way to tell him to stick it.
