Just look at your local dealer's website... getting $5-6k off MSRP is like shooting fish in a barrel

Went in today and did my buyback and left with an Alltrack in about two hours. It was delayed by the buyback software. I lost $500 off the estimate due to mileage. They will wait till I notify them that the EFT is complete before cashing my check. Pretty smooth experience.

Look thru the tdi forums in the dieselgate section, there are numerous threads about this
I have rescheduled my appt 3 times due to some conflicts and attempts to find a better sooner date. It is really simple.

At the very least if you cancel your old appt and cannot find a better date, just book the old one again. Do it at 2am to make sure no one snatches it during those 5 minutes.

Remember to add delivery ($820) and dealer fees ($400-$700) to that amount. The DC dealers play games with the sticker.

For anyone who is curious about the process - I got the email from Chase requesting my bank account info for the EFT after close of business the day after my buyback and the funds were in my account when I woke up on the West Coast the next day. Everything went smoothly for me and the Alltrack is nice. Now working on getting the hitch back on for my 1Up.

Last night I started the prep for my procedure tomorrow. When I read the instructions a bit closer I realized that I don't have to start the bad part of the prep until 6 PM tonight. So the sell back at 1 PM should be reasonable. This doctor had me start yesterday so today I'm a bit off but nothing terrible.

Cleaned out the car.

We're not doing anything like some of these people:
http://jalopnik.com/disgruntled-dies...s-b-1790053005

I don't get the "wreck the car before you give it back" mentality.

However, if we owned a lower spec sister car (say, a 2009 Jetta or a 2010 Golf) I'd realistically have swapped everything I could. The 2011 Golf we're turning in has nav, nice cloth seats, etc. It's also pretty low miles, 49k, so stuff in it is in good shape. If the JSW wasn't being turned in (2010 so sister car to the Golf but with 74k miles), I'd switch out the seats, the nav.

I think there will be a glut of parts on Craigslist/etc after the buy back gets going full speed. We're selling the Golf OEM tires mounted on Enkeis (super light RPF-1s) and the JSW 16" snows on take off OEM rims. Other than that there's nothing really to liquidate. Some filters, wipers, light bulbs, cargo nets (I bought like 4 or 5).

Just curious about this, since just yesterday I scheduled my buyback appointment for January, first date available for me.

And that is, since VW is sending the money to my bank account, wouldn't their representative need my account number at the time of the buyback for the EFT?

Why would my bank (also Chase) be requesting my account info?

Dave, who then wonder if in this instance it's Chase that VW is using to send money to customers for buybacks which in his case should mean a fast payoff since the EFT would be intrabank

VW using Chase to send the funds to people--I got mine 30 hrs after my buyback completed. You should have yours pretty quickly too.

The specialist will email a receipt to you. You don't give them any Bank information. The email has a link to Chase for all that info.

1st of 2 appointments scheduled. 1/7 at 1pm.

I'm looking at my potential replacement vehicle next tuesday, a 2011 335D with 85k miles, and an extended warranty until 100k miles.

The TSI is a 1.8 now. No more TDI low end torque but it's fine on the top end and quieter. I'll miss the mileage and the fun pull. At least the Alltrack still has the DSG with paddles.

Wrecking the car seems like exceptionally poor form. Keeping extras added after purchase or other nonessentials I dunno. I'm keeping my weathertechs and probably removing the hitch and mudguards I added. I can't say I've never kept an owners manual or tool kit from a car (BMW owners, you know when you are looking at the car you always make sure the tools are still in the trunk, right?) for various reasons.

Things I'll swap or remove:

Snows
Gentex mirror and mount
Euro aspherical left mirror glass
Hitch and wiring
Lifetime Sirius subscription
First aid kit, augmented for bike racing
The cash in the coin tray and the tools in the back

The rest goes.

I'm going used and keep getting beat out for deals. It's a hot market right now, and this isn't helping buyers.

Seriously super annoyed that everyone is moving through the process leaving my behind. I'm still stuck at step 15 since 10/27. No one can help.
