I do a big saddle-bar drop, but I suppose for most riders standover wouldn't be good enough. Will probably be a custom job then

The forecast calls for a wet 200k this weekend so the fenders went back on.[IMG]

Sup L'Avecaise club. Here's my new ride.
68 degrees in NYC in February is a pretty fantastic day for a new bike day and a couple laps in the park before work. DSC00177.jpg by Adam Paiva, on Flickr |

Beautiful bike, Jeff does a lot for a little.
I am thinking of trying the Gravelkings, how do you like them and what size do you have? |

@Kobe those are 650b x 42mm GK's. They roll very nicely - fast and smooth - and the volume definitely provides a lot more cushion than even the 30mm Challenge P-R's I'm used to. I'm running them at 45 psi iirc. I haven't really had them long enough to do a lot of off pavement riding but my limited experience impression (based on a few rides around NYC plus one 25 mile shakedown ride upstate with some gravel) is they are great for dry stuff but if it's wet they don't provide a ton of extra traction, though better than a thinner non-knobby tire.
If you are thinking the tanwall, I was pretty surprised when I received them that they are really brown. Not so much a natural gumwall color but a brown brown. At first I was a bit put off, but once on the bike I don't mind it. They do seem like they stand a better chance of staying clean than a lighter gumwall side casing. I haven't run them tubeless yet, and that was why I bought these over Compass 42mm pass, and plan to but need to build a tubeless 650b wheelset first. These aren't officially labelled tubeless compatible but my understanding is they basically are tubeless compatible. |

Adam,
Your bike turned out really nice, silver is pretty darn classy...mine's due for a repaint soon. Here are my other 'gravel bikes': 20161101_090034 by Tolev2, on Flickr And something a bit more recent, I've been trying to downsize since 09 and have failed miserably... 20151114_160947 by Tolev2, on Flickr
Sup L'Avecaise club. I've been tempted by discs lately but the last few posts make me feel good about my rim brake status.

Fenders, no fenders, and 2.1" Thunder Burts for the more aggressive fire road riding:

coelecant, that grey/orange Lyon is such a great bike. If you're the one who bent that front fender stay then kudos, my friend. That's well done.

I forbid you from posting pictures. That's what I want and I don't need any further motivation.
