Some help on assessing a used BMC SSX01
I don't know anything about the BMC brand.
Thinking this may be a good fit for the person I'm helping to find a bike. BMC archives don't go that far back. On Pinkbike I do see a similar bike and that was labelled 2010 model year. Anyone know much about this bike? Year? Was that seatstay, seat tube, top tube junction all novelty? Were they good bikes? $1100 seems a bit high to me if it is circa 2010. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...29703083154101 I'm not seeing the smokin' deals in LBS's that were supposed to be happening in the struggling industry so used is prob the only way for his budget. |

I think here in the US, that would be around a $500 USD bike.. assuming good running order etc.. I say that as it's an aluminum frame, older Shimano (cables not under bar tape), and probably maxes out at a 25mm tire.. I think that would be a hard sell for most, but if it fits, it would probably be a great first bike for someone.. I think you can do a lot better for $1.1k CDN..
maybe even somthing like this: https://www.poseidonbike.com/product...43689542910180

That is an exorbitantly high price for such a bicycle.

2010 was peak mediocrity for bikes, and even in canadian dollars, $1100 seems too high. If you can't get the seller to drop the price by half, look elsewhere.

I'm sure the bike is fine, but, its also not really worth paying more than $300-400 for it.
Its likely to need a deep clean and a tune up, probably new cables, bar tape and tires, at best - and that adds up. |
