Ekar chain on 12 speed groupset?

This is just out of curiosity, spurred by the 12 speed chain thread and noticing that Ekar chains seem to be widely available and sometimes priced below Chorus 12 chains. Has anyone used an Ekar chain on a 12 speed groupset, and, if so, how was the shifting and longevity?

I know that in a previous thread OP has provided guidance on matching chain speed and gruppo speed but I can't find it. Like I said, I can't think of a good reason to make this choice but I'm curious.

No, but I regularly use 12 speed chains with 11 speed groups and they work great. If I were you'd I'd try it.

Thanks. Given that I'll soon have an Ekar-equipped bike this is low risk -- if it doesn't work well I'll just keep that chain as a replacement. Though I'd love to hear any first hand experience.

I bought one once, just to measure it. There's no way it will work with a 12 speed crank. The width between the inner plates is extremely narrow. A SRAM AXS chain works well with Campy 12.

Thanks Dave. Do you mean that you took calipers to the chain and that was enough to conclude it wouldn't work, or did you actually lay it onto a 12 speed chainring?

I don't know why but my experience with a flat top chain on my Chorus 12 group, unlike yours and I think many others here, was poor so I've stuck with Campy chains.

Buy it and report back. I'm 'guessing' it will work fine with a 12s crankset.

I draped the chain over chain rings. It was far narrower than the SRAM AXS chain that I was using. No way it was going to work. I had the AXS chain in use on two Campy 12 bikes with no problem.
