Brifters and disc brakes

I was thinking of building up kinda of a frankenbike with left over parts I have laying around. Curious if the cable pull with shimano brifters will work with some avid cable actuated disc brakes. Anybody have experience with this? Thanks

Yep, Avid bb7 road will work fine.

I was hoping to use my old mtn bike spares. How much difference is there in the cable pull between brifters and mtn bike levers? Will the brakes be extra touchy or extra loose?

Tend to be extra loose. The avid bb7 'road' model are designed for a lever with a shorter pull. And they are still a little bit loose (when teamed with sram brifters) if you ask me.

If you have the bits lying around you may aswell give it a shot, and if it doesn't work just buy the bb7 road calipers.

Works pretty poorly. I got away with it for a little while but changed caliper before long. You aren't likely to be happy with it.
