Favorite PPF film for custom round tube road bike?
I have a fresh repaint on my custom Zukas and would like to PPF downtube, chainstays and underside of fork. What PPF do you guys like?
Thanks! |

If you really want to go whole hog, 3M 8671 (aka "leading edge" tape).
It is not cheap. (I don't expect anyone in his/her right mind to use this on a bicycle.) https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catal...8671polpro.php |

this stuff is protecting my Turbo Creo
really well:

I used some 3M clear wrap on a few road bikes. This was a generic "bike" kit that came with enough for several chain stays and other bits. For my latest road bike, I tried a non-custom BikeWrap full bike kit. The Bike Wrap is thicker and, while a bit trickier to apply because of the thickness, seems to provide better protection. The generic 3M, for example, tore a bit from dropped chains or chain slap. I have Xpel on a car and it doesn't seem any thicker than the 3M.
My advice: make sure you cover the chain stays completely. You can get chain slap on the bottom of the stay that can damage paint. I wrap the chain stay up to the BB, and the top of the BB on the drive side, and put strategically placed bits where necessary to avoid cable or tire rub. Unless you are riding gravel you shouldn't need much more imho (though if I had an all white bike I'd do more). |
