joined the broken clavicle club last night

was riding a little too fast on some single track, hit a divit in the trail, over the bars and dug my shoulder into the ground at 10-15mph...

I'm an expert level mountain biker, but we all make mistakes and I was on the ground before I even knew what happened.

surgery tuesday, but am super uncomfortable in the meantime

Even though I am a 4 time member of the broken clavicle club, I always feel bad when we admit a new member. Sorry.

My last clavicle fracture included a broken scapula and several ribs. The surgery resulted in a new titanium plate and 13 screws. I was at the dirt jump park with my son.

Sorry about your crash. Your x-ray looks a lot like mine. End result was a titanium plate with 5 screws. That sliver of bone sticking up will feel like a chunk of glass under your skin. Rest up.

What was the recovery time on the broken scapula?
I broke mine in four places as well as 6 ribs.

Ouch! I did mine three weeks ago tomorrow. It's getting better. I had no surgery and go in on Monday to have it checked out and hopefully get signed off to return to work.

Good luck. You'll probably have to sleep in a recliner....

Damn. It seems you also swallowed my Kreitler roller band. When you cough that up could you mail it my way.

Oh, and if you pass it the other way, it's all yours.

Get better soon.

My understanding is that it isn't a question of if it will happen but when.
I am still waiting for mine. Heal soon.

Is it safe to assume that MTB-types crash and break bones much more frequently than roadies?

(I'm trying to convince myself that that's not as likely to happen to me.)

According to my PT, better to join the broken collarbone club than the broken elbow club.

Welcome abroad to the broken something club anyways.
