Ben Serotta at Piermont Bicycle Connection, NY, this Saturday

Ben Serotta will be hanging out at Piermont Bicycle Connection (NY) this Saturday from 2:00PM-Closing….."And of course, I’ll have a few bikes to show."

I'd like to meet him even though I get the impression he has little interest in the bikes the company produced decades ago - and it's highly unlikely he's selling anything now that I'd be interested in given current pricing. I've purchased a lot of stuff from Piermont. Don't know if the shop dates back to when I lived in NJ but it seems like the kind of shop I'd enjoy now.

Given how much we've learned about his past, if even just by osmosis hanging around here for 20 years, it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on today's high-end bikes.

This was also in email, so he still has an interest in the old Serotta bikes:
"Plus, Bring your Serotta,
for a free T or Head thing!
(limited availability & sizes!).
Will have markers on hand if you’d like your older bikes signed."

I have a BBQ that if it gets rained out I can go, would like to meet Ben.

I met Ben at a shop in Grand Rapids years ago. Super nice guy and took time to speak to everyone there. Even surprised a buyer with their frameset that night they had purchased. Very approachable and answered all kinds of questions. If you get a chance to go to this event I'd do it.

If you're going, remember that Ben likes wine.

I had a great conversation with him at the hand-made bike show several years ago. Incredibly smart and engaging guy. I really enjoyed the discussion.
