Shipping back to the UK is costly and time consuming. Moreover, there are unanswered questions about how warranties work when products are purchased through so-called gray market channels.
To be clear, I'm not saying that people shouldn't purchase things from UK merchants. That's an individual choice. But if a consumer wants warranty protection, it's more certain to buy from a US vendor.
