I think they really had a nice thing in 9000 and 6800 - a modern group that looks good on a wide variety of bikes. The new crank style looks real bad. I'll live with my first gen 11 speed Shimano stuff.

Each Shimano group is usually updated a year after the tier above it. We'll probably see new 105 in 2018 and new Tiagra in 2019. Tiagra was just redone!
