they're "OK" in my opinion. the G+ Corsas are quite a step better, also IMO.
veloflex tires are still the class leaders for clinchers in the ride department category, but a bit delicate, especially for the mean streets of NYC, but the G+ corsas are a close second and quite a bit more cut resistant. the schwalbe one's that i have are a bit more "dead" feeling.
that's all subjective of course, and based on my experience - but i ride some of the same roads you do, and i'm a relatively lightweight rider, so take all that for what it's worth.
