Garmin response

Thanks to all for their responses...Here's Garmin's..in case you find yourself in my predicament..

Hello Don,

I apologize for the issues that you are having with your Edge 500/510/810. There may be some form of file corruption on the device that is causing these issues that you are having with your Edge 500/510/810. I'd like to connect the device to a computer to remove some folders and files and to also ensure that you have the latest software version installed. Do NOT delete unknown files; deleting wrong files from your mass storage device can cause adverse performance affects.

Folders that can be safely cleared: (Note that your device may not have all of these folders)

Gupdate.gcd
Gupdate.rgn
Gmaptz.img

I've done as requested and although I had very little of those files in the folders, I must had at least one corrupted one as it seems fine now, but we'll see in the upcoming weeks
