It sounds like you want to use Shimano 10s shifters and RD with that wheel for a while yet. Here's a thought. It looks like
Jtek's #1 shiftmate will let that combo work with a Campy 10s cassette. Use a Veloce cassette and a Campy or KMC chain.
In my experience, the Veloce cassette shifts just fine, it lasts pretty long, and it's pretty inexpensive. I think the price is comparable to 105 or Ultegra 10s cassettes, something like $40-50. And I can confirm that even though the Veloce cassette is all loose cogs, it won't gouge an alloy freehub body. You can't say the same about Shimano (although the gouges can be filed down).
