i've had this issue on my road shoes now & then, typically when i've ridden in or walked in muck or a few days after a water spay-filled ride. buddy of mine said in a pinch if you're getting the squeaks while riding and see a puddle, stick the bottom of the shoe (just the sole/cleat, without getting the upper wet) in the water and swish it around a little. chances are something got under the cleat itself, or in the bolts, etc. fancy that, it worked.

if you want to be very thorough about it, which i've done, then remove cleat and bolts, clean everything thoroughly (esp. the recessed holes in the shoe sole, get any muck outta there) and grease bolt threads with something like phil wood grease, and apply a very thin layer of phil between cleat and sole.

that's worked for me as well......until the shoes get full of muck again at some point in future.
