As a SD resident I’m with deluz: if you only want to climb, go do Palomar. If you want coastal views, do a ride that includes some mix of La Jolla/Soledad, Torrey Pines, the long run of 25mi+ to Oceanside and back. It’s not the worlds most challenging going, but dang it’s its not pretty beautiful.
Infinite options if you head inland to Rancho Santa Fe (quiet roads, short sharp hills), Encinitas/Carlsbad, or further east to add BWR road or gravel routes….100% of which are accessible any day of the week.
Depends what you want, but they’re all great options. I tend to opt for stuff I can ride from my house vs the long haul out to Palomar. Feel free to DM me for route recommendations.
