Personally, think this looks correct, unlike some other options using a bunch of spacers underneath the stem. Helps that I used Cannondale C3 bits (stem, bars, seatpost) on an 88 ST so it looks almost factory.

Yes, when someone's measurements combined with a frame's geometry work out to where a stem can be slammed, a simple threadless adapter can look really nice since its fully hidden.
I find that very few people are fall into that category though.
