Putting the "S" back in Paceline

Admiring that DKS Hors'Cat in the classifieds and waiting patiently for my 7-11 inspired MeiVici to land, I'm wondering why there isn't a stronger effort here to stay connected to the Legend that birthed this forum?

A few ideas:

(1) a "sticky" in the classifieds for posting Serotta finds and Serotta-adjacent finds (Kirk, Ellis, Bedford, etc.).

(2) a Serotta-specific gallery for all custom/production Serottas of various vintages

(3) a stickied general-forum post or a sub-forum created to record and compile a best-of guide to the history of the company, its owner(s), its builders, preferred models, its racing heritage, and the like - good, bad, ugly - get it all out there in one place while those who know the stories are still spinning the cranks..

So, Mods n' Members, what think ye?

Here's a good looker to whet the whistler:

The first pictured bike with a monostay is the only Serotta I have seen like that.

The Mevici had a monostay as a standard feature.

Mine.

So quite a few, ottrott attack meivici and all the ti and steel versions with carbon rear option etc.

Love the cx looking bike here. I think a bike like this would be super cool to have in my quiver although I've no need for it.

I have recently been thinking that number of S bikes for sale and discussion in generally around this forum has diminished substantially since I joined. I think one/all the ideas you suggesting are good, Dan. I like the idea of having an S dedicated Section and with this would be included branches of the family tree (e.g. Kirk, Ellis, etc.).

Relevant topic, as my winter project is going to be rebuilding my Serotta travel bike completely in anticipation of some good bike travel in 24.

With regard to forum changes: We've played around with things over the years, and the bottom line is that to keep a topic relevant or fresh, the only thing that matters is if people want to talk about it. Stickies and subforums just dont matter much. People inadvertently ignore the stickies and their eyes just pass over them and subforums rarely get visited. All the eyeball traffic is here and in the classifieds.

So if we want to keep the fire burning for great Serottas of the past and present, the best way is to keep talking about them right here. We may even be able to educate some of the young wippersnappers, I'd guess that a huge portion of people under 30-35 dont even know what Serotta is, sounds Italian though!

I bought it brand new in 1993 and it still looks pretty good. Not a beautiful sleek paceline Serotta but still a Serotta.

Believe so. I have Ottrott, Coeur d'Acier, and Attack with the monostay, possibly others. Here's the Ottrott and the Coeur d'Acier.

I went looking for a picture of my ATX - made me realize how few pictures of my Serottas are on the current computer. So here's the Softtail instead.

The first bike I remember drooling over was a Serotta with Campagnolo Chorus. Beautiful thing.
But to the questions, please no. No more sub forums, stickys, or otherwise. I've been here for years, and when I got here it had already moved past the basically defunct brand.
I never think about it having been a Serotta forum. It doesn't matter.
