Banana Bike

Anyone get one for their kid lately? I rode one as a kid and loved it. I know the 50 year old bikes in great condition are crazy expensive but where is a good place to get a new/used, well built banana bike?

Why not go to the original? Schwinn re-launched their "Sting-Ray" banana seat bikes a few years ago, and while they are not cheap, the word is that they are decent quality. Here's the Lemon Peeler:

I hear the Paceline forum is a great place to connect with bike people that will surprise you with what they have in the garage ;)

If interested in an original, I have a good condition, all original, fully loaded Pea Picker that has not seen really any riding since 1976.

Willing to part with to a forum member for enough under going rate, that there should be opportunity left on table should someone choose to move on from it later.

It ain’t the same as the original unless it has a 5-speed cassette and a shifter on the top tube!

I had an Apple Krate… kept it for 30 years… wheels were rusting and I wasn’t a cyclist… so I threw it away when we moved out of town and were getting rid of stuff.

I STILL kick myself for that…

Illegal...around 1974 top tube stick shifts were replaced with thumb shifters for health reasons.....front end collision/male genitalia/shifter in the path of destruction/lottsa pain

They had 5 speed freewheels, but anyway. The non krate stingrays were really fun as coaster braked bikes with 2 20" wheels vs the krate's 16" front (this is what BMX came from), I bought a stingray fastback (20 x 1 3/8 wheels originally the "adult" version) coaster some years ago, was good fun, now it's a display mostly.

How much ghost riding into brick walls has that bike done, I'd say the front fork is a bit beyond bent to the rear?

The bike rides fine with and without hands on the bars. Looks worse in pictures
