The return of Alfa Romeo

As a former Alfisti (82 S/V), I am excited to see the brand return with some hot offerings. This one, the new Giulia, makes me weak in the knees.

I have a friend who has a 4C coming....it's in the states but they can't seem to figure out how to get it from the dock, through customs and to the dealer. it's been stuck for weeks now.

I'm sure the car will be fun when it arrives but the process is 1/2 baked at best.

They have successfully imported and delivered several 4Cs to a handful of owners in the St Louis area. You wouldn't think that that would be a huge problem for a dealership used to importing cars from Europe.

Saw a 4c launch edition at our local car show two weeks back. Beautiful, nice and light, throaty growl, and reasonable horsepower for the weight. However, one of the reviews I came across suggested a good bit of turbo lag. Also curious that the only available tranny is a dual-clutch, 6-speed auto.

One of the C&D reviews offered "This Alfa is essentially a track car with holes for license plates. The harder you whip it, the more composed it feels."

Don't think I will be giving up my AP2 S2000 anytime soon.

That said, you will be noticed.

The return of Alfa Romeo

The pricing for the 4C was reasonably low for a halo car, I thought. Will be interested to see what the Giulia Quadrifoglio goes for.

challenging to do distinctive and unique design

those body parts look sorta borrowed, one piece from each of a few existing brands. Like can you see the Accord / BMW 3 in the side view? Kia Optima from the rear? BRZ in the lights up front? That's what I noticed.

Better as a whole, I think.

A friend picked up a new 4C in pearl white. He found it at a dealer in TN and drove it back to SF. Beautiful car, handles like a slot car, a bit of turbo lag but still pretty quick. Overall, extremely fun to drive.

The Giulia has my attention.

Looks like a Mazda from the side.

Agreed. I like it, but the Giulia looks like a hotted-up 3 series.

I've seen 2 4Cs in the wild now with the latest one on Sunday...

Does TX not require front license plates? In this case it sure would be a shame if they did.

They are required, but it's not enforced universally.

I think the coupes are gorgeous, and the Guillia is great looking. I agree that it looks like a Beemer, but better.

Yes they do. I've collected a number of tickets over the years for that very reason.... ;)

Cost of doing business...need front plates in NY but I don't rum em...American front plates are awful

Louis 06-30-2015 06:12 PM

I considered not putting a plate on the front of my GTV, but decided to be a law-abiding citizen and went ahead and did it. It doesn't look horrible, but it sure doesn't help.
