Interesting stuff from Steelman
Just got an email from Brent Steelman (as did everyone else who is one their email list) and thought I'd share this here. What is interesting is that the demand for lugged steel frames is higher than what used to be his bread and butter tig welded ones. Check out the link to his frame page...some nice looking stuff.

5k for Steel
Yowzer, $5,000 for limited edition, custom steel. Way pricey for my skin.
Bike definitely looks great but that seems way beyond reasonable. Just sayin.... Bob |
I've entirely lost track of what is currently considered "reasonable".
Trek had a Madone bike with a $10,000 sticker and I think Dura Ace. $5000 for a handmade frame seems well spent in comparison. Of course, you can always take what you like from one maker and contact a little guy, like Banjo cycles, and have him do it for half that. |
Given the 4 month lead time of the LE-10, I'd say these frames are a bargain. Anyone searching for a high quality performance/racing frame with lugs should jump on this.
Considering what Sacha White is asking for a TIG welded Speedvagen, a frame I certainly consider a brilliant concept and no doubt a great frame, this makes the LE-10 even more of a steal. |

As cycling becomes more popular bikes become more about the "object" and less about the "tool". Not a bad thing. No reason they can't be both. |
