Can anyone tell me what year this Serotta Legend Ti was made?

Looking at buying a super clean Serotta Legend Ti bike SN TI554030. I know that TI = Legend Ti model and "55" is the size but don't know how to decipher remaining four numbers.

I'm wondering if "4" = 2004 and "030" = production number that year.

But drivetrain is Campy 10 spd QS (which I believe first came out in 2007) and the Mavic Kayriim ES Helium anniversary wheels also came out in 2007. Not sure when Rotor Chainrings came out. Of course, original owner might have retrofitted newer parts.

The last 4 numbers,4030, indicate there were 4029 Legends built before this one and not having a "C" in front of "TI" means it is not a custom frame. I had a stock Legend with a 1" head tube and it was a wonderful bike.

If you compare this frame's details with those in photos in the old Serotta catalogs on this site you may be able to estimate the age because head tubes went from 1" to 1 1/8", rear dropouts and graphics changed, etc.

Sound advice right here. It's definitely a stock 55cm geometry and the 4030th legend off the line. If it's a 2007 then it should have a 1 1/8th head tube and 3d dropouts if I'm not mistaken. A very nice bike!

yes, 2007 the first year of ERGO labeled 'QS', same for 2008..became Gumby/11s in 2009.

Appreciate all the help

I did some sleuthing via Serotta catalogues here on this forum. Interesting that Serotta didn't put the year in SN. I'll check out width of headtube. Gorgeous welds. I was also trying to see when they switched to Reynolds Ouzo Pro forks instead of their proprietary F series. Anyone know?

If anything, the Ouzo Pro was offered before the F2, since the F2 was based on the Ouzo Pro.

Last year for the 1" head tube and F1 fork was 2002, though 1 1/8" head tubes had been an option previous to 2002. 2003 forks were F2 and O2. Both had carbon steer tubes. F2 has Ti tips and is slightly stiffer, according to the catalog.

I had a stock 60cm Legend w/1" O2 fork. A terrific bike.

Ok so this new input now makes me wonder when the bike was made. Definitely has 1 1/8" steerer tube. Original owner never really rode this so it looks pristine with just a few cracks in the "Colorado" decal on seat tube. Have read some negatives about the Ksyrium ES Anniversary Helium wheels, but there are no cracks in the rims and the red anodized hubs look new.

Rode it and wasn't disappointed. Light. Responsive. Smooth. Just needs fresh rubber. So I'm coming back tomorrow w a check or cash.
