Hump Day Fun - Fake Colnago C60s
I know a while back there was a thread on here about an alleged fake C59. IIRC, it was genuine but the Dutch seller was selling a repaint and the serial number was obscured. Anyway, it's a slow day in the office and while browsing on ebay I found these fake C60s. Can you spot the two obvious tells.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-20...bsWLLWAfOJM2Kw http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-20...zyBe1uJB03Fpcw The 2014 OFRG is one of the better fakes I've seen. Buyer beware! |
Other than the colors being wrong?
|
They look good and the location is listed as Italy. What gives them away as fakes? Curious.
|
i'm so 'nago dumb that i'd be a perfect victim for these. what am i looking at?

Both have UCI stickers.
Beware the wrath of the UCI if they learn about this! |

If you are 100% those are fakes have you reported them? I mean some guy is gonna be making a pretty bad deal if they are still around to be purchased by an unsuspecting cyclist.
The seller has 271 sales and 100% feedback. If these are fake ods are these are not his first fake items. Cant ebay squeeze these ppl?? Whats the other tell? Always interesting to see how to spot these things. |
I'll message him to inform him that the red C60 is a 2014 model and not 2017. And also ask him to clarify why the bottom bracket is listed as BB386 and doesn't include the aluminum insert in the shell. As far as I know, only the Threadfit82.5 cups can be removed.

ask for serial #
before purchasing any bike/frame it makes sense to ask the seller for the serial # and check with the manufacturer to confirm providence and model year etc? Particularly if a manufacturer's warranty is involved??
trust but verify? |
