It's official: Disc brake guards are happening
 

Just saw this on CyclingNews and thought I'd share it here...

Wow , those are ugly

It's like a plastic spoke protector disc, but even more distracting

I think they use them on the supercross motorbikes, on the front. Not sure if mandatory, though, and a lot less "bump passing" than in supercross..

I think they should add integrated blinky lights....

Just don't put disc brakes on road bikes, problem solved.

imagine all of the whiny pros who will be tattling on those who do not have these protectors. Clever of Tune to jump on the idea.


I think I read the Mike Synard (sic) said that in two years all road bikes will have discs and the entire pro cycling world will be on them. Rather a bold prediction, but hey he makes the decisions on what to sell for his brand so I guess he does have some clout.

Just let me know when we get to electronic braking and that's when I'll draw the line.

Although, it looks like it might be an effective deli meat slicer/extruder while bike's in the workstand. So there's that.

oh jeeze. If this ends up being adopted, it will be as clear as day that the bicycle manufacturers don't actually believe in discs because they are a better product, they simply believe in selling n+1, and will do whatever they can to justify that purchase.

Can I file that off?
