Tour of Seoul (bike shops x 17)

When I travel internationally, I kill time by looking for bike shops. I'm usually in search of unique items and deals. This week I'm in Seoul, Korea. After doing some research, I plotted a trip to visit the Pas Normal store and found an entire street of bike stores--16 in all. The street is in the Cheon-ho district. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...89ffcfc049.jpg

After checking out all 16 shops, I hopped on the subway to see the local Rapha store in Apujeong. Rapha seems to have leveraged the Hard Rock Cafe pin merchandizing idea. Each shop has a unique clubhouse jersey. To date, I have jerseys from Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Seoul.

Good informative information, I had no idea.

I was recommended Hansung near Seokgye station (line 1 or 6). Of course, I went on the day the shop was closed but have heard good things. It is near the Giant store.

I hope I can visit again what with the current situation with the lovebirds.

If you get a chance to visit Hansung bike shop, please let me know via PM.

Pretty neat. Pretty neat that you get to travel like that, OP. I'm envious. :)

Definitely check out Watts Cycle and Apgujung Cycles.
AGJ cycles got to be one of the biggest bike shops in the world.

Bike Makes Me Happy shop is also a really good one.
If you happen to visit their shop, tell them jinbok from LA sent you!
They are my good friends:)

i knew that sport cycling had taken off in korea and had wondered how strong the industry presence is there. altho when i saw a seven dealer in seoul, i figured boutique-ier brands were making inroads. in is curious how they tend to congregate in an area. even curiouser that the shops are named after specific brands. are these brand only shops? meaning, does the look shop only sell look products and is started by look? any sram or campy presence there?
lots of questions.

Those specific brand shops are operated by the distributors of that particular brands, though,
it's often the case that one big distributor owns multiple brands in their roster.
That means, for example, Look store has 90% of all the Look products & 10% of other brands (usually) that runs by its distributor.

Cycling became really popular recently and the presence is huge there.
You get to see all the high-end bikes/parts in a group ride (having the nicest.. is part of our culture..), and Korea has the second highest sales in the world for Rapha..

Definitely check out Rubi Workshop too.. 5 story bike shop..

I guess she puts down enough watts to find the Quarq powermeter a worthwhile investment.
