So...this arrived yesterday:

black!!!!!

Depends. What color saddle, bar tape, and brake hoods? If in doubt, basic black is always appropriate.

Why on earth would you want to draw attention to the housing of all things on that bike? It's ugly (housing is ugly), whatever color makes it disappear the best, so, probably black. Maybe white if the bar tape is white.

White would look great.

Black
|
black. always black
|
cool frame. white if built retro, black if built neo.

Gray

red, will look nice along the top tube

But then red was mentioned. I pictured it and think it is the right answer. As long as you can find a housing colored close to the top and down tube. |

Among architects I've known, it's kind of a proverb that if you have no choice but to run a plumbing vent through the living room (or the like), "Paint it red and make a feature of it". Cable housing is a little like that. You have to have some, it's gonna be visible, might as well do what you can with it. Myself, I'd strongly consider yellow for that frame. Depending, as noted, on what tape & seat, and whether you're aiming for a more period-correct look, or, uh... otherwise... |
Housing should be seen and not heard.
I wouldn't want to detract from the details of that frame. |
If you are stuck on yellow tape, then yellow cable. Not sure about the white saddle and hoods. Black hoods and yellow saddle, but I have little to no aesthetic taste.
