Show me your 3d printed bike related items!

Just got a 3d printer for my daughter. Looking to fun things to print. Any bike related must haves?

JAGI410 06-14-2022 10:28 PM

If you build your own wheels….print a nipple shuffler! I’ve printed a couple, they are super handy.

Love the downtube lever AXS blips!

I printed one a while ago, and realized I don't know how to use it :D

I’ve got a few on my page here

Appreciate the opportunity to sing the praises of @kppolich, who just printed me up a Varia mount for a Fizik ICS saddle. Kyle's a class act.

Dump nipples into it, shake it a little, and all of the nipples will fall into the same orientation, making it super easy to pick one up with a Mulfinger.

I've made a few spacers with our team/shop logo debossed/embossed into it. SLS ones hrld up great, my last company used a wood powder that scaled kinda off so it's closer to 1".

Through a few different jobs I think the only non bike useful things I printed was a stand for my safety razor (sls) and a bracket for a chin up bar (fdm).

I bought my wife a couple of these 3D printed saddlebag mounts for her Garmin Varia, from Shapeways:

My work is mostly inspired by long distance riding/racing from my randonneuring experiences and two 450k gravel races.

I was annoyed with the lack of configurable mounts to things like aero bars and huge battery banks that were not designed with cyclists in mind.

So, I started teaching myself CAD and 3d printing. These are still WIP, but I have been working on smaller "go-pro"mounted battery banks (600-1000mah) for lights or computers as well as fully integrated units that Im still ironing out designs on.

Ive also been 3d printing molds for forged carbon parts as I have some experience with 'glass/carbon from my old boat building days. So far, Ive only made a test mold of a small 8mm wrench and used pure glass, but the result was extremely promising.

I hope to start sending out test mounts soon to a few people that want one and will put them through their "paces" (had to do it). Once those tests are passed, I might spin up a simple online page, easy ordering, very fair pricing as this is just fun for me.

Would love to see a picture?? I was looking at the Bup labs one (https://buplabs.com/products/fizik-s...in-varia-mount) but didn't quite hit + felt $$$.

Just a quick snap, let me know if there is something more specific about the item that you'd like to see.

Nickt 06-20-2022 08:26 PM

Much appreciated. Does it play nice with a saddle bag?

No experience on the bike yet but I’ve played around with a couple of saddle bag options. It doesn’t get along with one that is somewhat elongated (don’t remember the brand), but it does with the Silca tool roll that I plan to use with it. In fact, Kyle was generous in printing me several lo-res options to make sure that was the case.

If I can find some AXS Wireless blips I'll be making a set of these in Black to go on my Chisel for up/down shifting.

What printer is everyone using? I keep kicking around the idea of picking one up to mess around with...

This is brilliant! I'd honestly rather run a pair of these over my Eagle shift paddle...

Yep, will feel a lot more natural after riding eTap on the road for a few years. Left hand and right hand nut just right thumb.

kppolich 07-21-2022 06:07 PM

Production candidate of the AXS Wireless blip holders for MTB. Still need to source black bolts/nuts. Also a GoPro mount for Giro Synthe helmets and a GoPro to Bontrager Ion adapter to helmet mount the Ion Pro. Mount is held on by a zip tie underneath.

Great stuff! If you get to a point where you feel like making a batch of those little blip holders, I'd be up for a pair!
I love the helmet mount as well! Certainly beats the stick on curved "gopro" mount that they sell!

I have yet to track down a great source for random bike hardware since Toronto Cycles stopped selling. They were the go to for Ti and Black bits for years!

My son is a 3D printing maniac and has printed me several bottle cages (we had to play around with the fill to get them the right stiffness/limited flex) and it was a lifesaver when I needed the wrench to adjust my Pinarelly K8-S rear suspension bolt, as of course it's a specific tool that common tools don't fit!

I have a CAAD10 that I have converted to SRAM AXS and would love to replace the shifter cable guides (don’t know the proper name) on the down tube to be flat (blanks).
Does anyone know if those exist or would anyone be able to 3D print a couple? [emoji1]

I'll need a.picture of what you have and what you are thinking of. I'm trying to imagine it but no luck 🤦

Replacement Steady Rack Tire Rest as the used one I bought did not include it. 3D designed without holes for mounting as I'm using 3M tape for my other 3. Printed in super fast draft mode, but hey - it works.

DANG that's slick!

I would love to see a hydro brake lever that has the hose attach at the other end (right near the handlebar). it could allow for some really clean routing on MTB's.

Care to sell a few?

kppolich 09-18-2022 11:47 AM

Print worked out great. Next revision might put a little more space between the wheels so the orientation of spokes/cassette/brake rotors doesn't have to be so precise. Also, half as thick would be fine.

I just saw a Feedback work stand hanger that looks pretty interesting. I have to get my printer working again. https://www.printables.com/model/278...Xjrc8nd1JT-_o0

Those wheel hangers are nice!

Spdntrxi 09-18-2022 02:40 PM

someone needs to invent Thur-axle motorized wheel rack that will slowly rotate tubeless setups..

kppolich 09-28-2022 02:40 PM

Got sick of the Velcro loop on the scale that I hung from our basement conduit. 5 min in tinkercad and 8 minute print has this attached to the scale and Velcro be gone.
